Robotics applications in facial plastic surgery has been practical and observed to have benefits. For instance, minimal invasiveness, small number of incisions, less blood loss, ease of access to locations that has limited space, and reduction/elimination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy are some benefits of transoral robotic surgery that had been observed in the literature particularly for specific malignant occurrences. In this work, we will cover research literature on robotics use for facial plastic surgeries that include reconstructive, cosmetic, and head and neck surgeries. Advancements in robotics technology such as soft robotics and nano-scale robots with their potential applications in facial plastic surgery will be covered. In addition, technologies such as augmented reality and CT image use alongside of robotics will be covered.
