Certain polymers exhibit two distinct branches in their capillary flow curves (wall shear stress
versus apparent wall shear rate). This gives rise to oscillatory flow in constant‐piston‐speed
rheometers and to flow curve hysteresis in controlled‐pressure rheometers. These curious
