Rotationally resolved photoelectron angular distributions in resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization of NO

H Rudolph, V McKoy - The Journal of chemical physics, 1989 - pubs.aip.org
We report calculated ionic rotational branching ratios and associated photoelectron angular
distributions for (1+ 1′) resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) via the R 21
(20.5), P 21+ Q 11 (25.5), and P 11 (22.5) branches of the A 2 Σ+(3 s σ) state of NO. The
branching ratios are dominated by even angular momentum transfer peaks, in agreement
with the Δ N+ l= odd (Δ N≡ N+− N i) selection rule. Whereas the calculated photoelectron
angular distributions are very branch dependent alignment, the ionic branching ratios are …

Rotationally Resolved Photoelectron Angular Distributions<? format?> from a Nonlinear Polyatomic Molecule

P Hockett, M Staniforth, KL Reid, D Townsend - Physical review letters, 2009 - APS
We present, for the first time, rotationally resolved photoelectron images resulting from the
ionization of a polyatomic molecule. Photoelectron angular distributions pertaining to the
formation of individual rotational levels of NH 3+ have been extracted from the images and
analyzed to enable a complete determination of the radial dipole matrix elements and
relative phases that describe the ionization dynamics. This determination leads to the
deduction of significantly different dynamics from those extracted in previous studies which …
