The literal meaning of Qurbani is sacrifice. It is a tradition that is performed annually by Muslims across the globe during the Holy month of Dhul Hijjah. This tradition is a commemoration of the Prophet Ibrahim (AS) when he decided to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) in order to comply with the orders from Allah Almighty. Every year, affluent or Sahib-e-Nisab Muslims carry out the practice of animal sacrifice on days 10th, 11th, and 12th of the month of Dhul Hijjah to show willingness for sacrificing every beloved thing for the sake of Allah Almighty [1].
