Students with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder have begun to attend colleges and
universities in high numbers in the last decade. These students often demonstrate an
excellent ability to learn and have the curiosity and motivation for learning. However, they
experience difficulties in college classrooms and face frustrations when they are unable to
succeed. Although many students with ASD graduate from high school and pursue higher
education, only one‐third of these students graduate from a four‐year university.
