A small microvertebrate fauna is described from core samples obtained from a borehole
sunk by the Petrobrás Oil Company in the Amazon Basin. The samples come from the
Itaituba Formation and are dated as being from around the Morrowan/Atokan boundary
(Late Pennsylvanian, Late Carboniferous) on the basis of associated conodont elements.
The samples include teeth of the anachronistid neoselachian Cooleyella amazonensis n.
