This article present about to design solar plant for roof top building in university. Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra is one of the best private universities nationwide. One effort to continue maintaining campus quality is to improve facilities and infrastructure as campus services. In this paper a planning for installing solar panels on the roof of one of the campus buildings is presented. Solar power plant planning is done by designing and calculating how much power should be provided for new buildings. Starting from calculating the electrical load, power by solar power plants, counting the number of solar panels, battery capacity, inverters and others. The number of suitable solar panels installed in accordance with the building roof area is 2 strings (120 panels) while the number of panels according to the load to be serviced requires 2,256 solar panels. From the results of calculations following the number of solar panels that can be, the energy obtained per day is 144.83 kWh, this means that it is only able to serve about 0.97% of the energy needed by the building.
