Soybean, Glycine max is the world’s most important seed legume. The guarantee of successful soybean crop every growing season is important to regular oil supply. Soybean diseases can and do occur each year in India. Pre and post emergence damping off and seedling blights are often encountered in the field. Several different pathogens can cause these diseases, and the most common tend to be Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, Phomopsis, Phytophthora, and Pythium. These losses can be estimated up to 20% if proper care has not been taken. Bacterial blight of soybean attacks all of the above-ground parts of soybean and inflict significant yield loss to the crop. Several viruses commonly infect soybean plants, including bean pod mottle, soybean mosaic, tobacco ring spot and bean yellow mosaic. These disease need to be taken seriously. In this chapter, we discussed these diseases and their management.
