Abstract l-cysteine undergoes facile electron transfer with heteropoly 10-
tungstodivanadophosphate,\left PV^ VV^ VW _ 1 0 O _ 4 0\right^ 5-, at ambient temperature
in aqueous acid medium. The stoichiometric ratio of cysteine/oxidant is 2.0. The products of
the reaction are cystine and two electron-reduced heteropoly blue, PV IV V IV W 10 O 40 7−.
The rates of the electron transfer reaction were measured spectrophotometrically in acetate–

Rates of electron transfer reaction of thioglycolic acid with vanadium (V) substituted Keggin-
type heteropolyanion, PV VVVW 10 O 40 5−, in acetate-acetic acid buffers have been
measured spectrophotometrically at 25° C. The order of the reaction with respect to
substrate and oxidant is unity. The reaction shows simple second order kinetics at constant
pH. The rate of the reaction increases with increase of pH of the medium. The mono-anion
