Abstract
In the present work, a hot turning is performed on Inconel 718 to determine the effect of heating on material removal rate, forces, power consumption, tool life, and specific cutting energy. The cutting tests are carried out using uncoated carbide insert at varying machining conditions, for both room temperature and 600 °C temperature. The results show that there was an increase in tool life, material removal rate, and reduction of forces, specific cutting energy and power consumption in hot conditions compared to room temperature machining conditions.
