Abstract
Single bubbles flowing in a centrifugal rotor were investigated through numerical and experimental methods, where the rotating speed, flow coefficient, and bubble diameter were varied to analyze their influence on the bubbles trajectories and drag coefficient. Results show that bubble trajectory is influenced by the flow rate and rotating speed, while drag coefficient curves are influenced by the bubble diameter and rotating speed. Finally, a comparison of the estimated drag coefficient against several drag coefficient correlations is shown. It was noted a good agreement with a model based on the Reynolds, Weber, and Eötvos numbers. Additionally, it was found a dependence between the drag coefficient and a dimensionless number, which considers the rotational acceleration of the rotor.
