DISCUSSION: HAdV infection is well known to cause life threatening illness in the severely
immunocompromised. It remains a rare entity in the immunocompetent, with reported cases
predominantly in the military. Identifying this infection early requires a high index of
suspicion, especially with lack of improvement with antibiotics and recognition of risk factors.
We postulate that incarceration, like military exposure, may be a risk factor (close quarters).
