SCLCPs are generally prepared by covalently linking rigid mesogens through flexible spacers. In recent years, self-assembly through specific interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, ionic, ionic-dipolar and charge transfer interactions has been recognized as a new strategy for constructing SCLCPs. These supramolecular materials have some advantages over the covalently bonded systems as a dynamic function, environmental compatibility, and low energy processing.
