Mild and 'green'ultrasound-assisted reaction of chitin with 3-(chloromethyl)[1, 2, 4]
selenadiazolo [4, 5-a] pyridin-4-ium bromide in water affords novel selenium-containing
cationic chitin derivatives. The thus obtained chitin derivatives are water soluble and are
characterized by high in vitro antifungal activity comparable with conventional antifungal
drug Amphotericin B.
