The future of internal combustion engines depends on the use of greenhouse gas neutral
fuels, extremely low exhaust emissions, and high efficiency of the combustion process. The
diesel-like synthetic oxymethylene ether (OME) fuels have the potential to fulfil those
requirements. The synthetic fuel OME1 was tested on a single-cylinder diesel engine at the
Institute of Internal Combustion Engines at the Technische Universität München.
