The immersive and social affordances of virtual worlds offer many new opportunities for

Abstract
The immersive and social affordances of virtual worlds offer many new opportunities for educators but also challenge established teaching practices in higher education. This study describes the experiences of eight teachers from the fields of Pharmacy and Nursing who have chosen to implement immersive virtual worlds in their courses.
