Based on the economy and population data from 1997 to 2017, this paper studies the spatio-
temporal evolution of the county economic difference of Chongqing municipality since its
establishment in 1997, using the methods of standard deviation, coefficient of variation, Gini
coefficient, Theil index, standard deviation ellipse and relative development rate. It is found
