Many of the Firmicutes bacteria responsible for plant polysaccharide degradation in Nature
produce a multiprotein complex called a cellulosome, which co‐ordinates glycoside
hydrolase assembly, bacterial adhesion to substrate and polysaccharide hydrolysis.
