Quaternary chalcogenides form in different structure types and compositions and are of
scientific interest, while their diversity of physical properties exemplifies why they continue to
be investigated for potential technological applications. We investigate the thermal
properties of BaCu 2 SnQ 4 with trigonal (Q= S) and orthorhombic (Q= Se) crystal structures.
BaCu 2 SnS 2 Se 2 was also synthesized and characterized in order to investigate the effect
