Construction industry has become the third largest contributor of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Therefore, paying careful attention to solutions and ideas, which can mitigate environmental, social and economic drawbacks of building construction and urban development, is truly essential nowadays. In fact, integrated approaches capable of presenting green buildings as the outcome are invaluable. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is not only beneficial for project development but also presents an innovative and integrated working framework for enhancing productivity and sustainability throughout the life cycle of construction projects. Employing BIM for design and construction of green buildings is a unique and novel method that was brought into attention a few years ago and is still evolving. This study evaluates potential benefits of Green Building Information Modeling in construction industry and assessed its positive impacts on sustainable development.
