Phase information resultant from the harmonic analysis of the speech can be very
successfully used to determine the polarity of a voiced speech segment. In this paper we
present two algorithms which calculate the signal polarity from this information. One is based
on the effect of the glottal signal on the phase of the first harmonics and the other on the
relative phase shifts between the harmonics. The detection rates of these two algorithms are
compared against others established algorithms.
