In recent years, research developments in the field of two-dimensional (2D) materials have
propelled their applications in electronics, photonics, and optoelectronics. However, many
areas remain under-explored. In this chapter, we present the classes of 2D materials and
evaluate their suitability for bio-photonic applications. We also discuss how they could be
utilized for biosensing, drug delivery, photothermal, and photodynamic therapy for cancer
diagnosis and treatment.
