(in English) Vertical handover is one of vital topics in heterogeneous wireless networks. In
this paper, we focus system selection using IEEE802. 21 on WiMAX/WLAN systems. In the
existing scheme, RSSI is used as a handover trigger and system selection uses MADM
(Multiple Attributes Decision Maker). There, handover is triggered when RSSI is smaller than

(in English) Vertical handover is one of vital topics in heterogeneous wireless networks. In this paper, we focus system selection using IEEE802. 21 on WiMAX/WLAN systems. In the existing scheme, RSSI is used as a handover trigger and system selection uses MADM (Multiple Attributes Decision Maker). There, handover is triggered when RSSI is smaller than RSSI threshold. The handover to try to access the congested channel to be handovered could meet access rejection.
In this paper, we propose a system selection scheme using NAV (Network Allocation Vector) as another handover trigger to estimate such channel congestion to reduce rejection rate as a handover happens.
