This paper examines the nature of climate change in Taraba State based on climatic data from different parts of the state. Monthly temperature and rainfall data for 35 years from three stations namely Lau, Gassol and Gembu. These data were subjected to descriptive and trend analyses. Results of the trend analysis of climatic data showed that mean temperature is increasing (except on the Mambilla Plateau), annual rainfall is decreasing in the northern zone but increasing in the central and southern zones. There is delayed onset, early cessation and decreasing length of rainy season in all the zones. Majority of the local farmers surveyed claimed that temperature is increasing while rainfall has been decreasing with delayed onset and early cessation. The farmers’ assessment agreed with the statistical analysis of climatic data from the state. Appropriate recommendations were proffered for government, individuals and communities towards reducing the scourge of climate change in the state.
