Astract he bamboo is one of the main plant communities composing the Kahuzi-Biega

Astract he bamboo is one of the main plant communities composing the Kahuzi-Biega National Park (KBNP). The present contribution was mainly focused on data related to plant species composing the KBNP bamboo forest, as well as phytosociological aspects between the bamboo and the other plants. Floristic inventories were done through transects whereas for the phytosociological analysis relevés were established, according to the Braun-Blanquet method. Compared to other ecosystems, the KBNP bamboo forest is not much diversified. The average number of species is 102 species/hectare. This can be explained by the high bamboo density (6 culms/m²). The most dominant plant families are Rubiaceae and Asteraceae. Moreover, almost only young trees (according to their DBH) are represented.
