X. c. pv. malvacearum was identified among 7 epiphytic and endophytic microorganisms
isolated from cotton seeds (cv. Giza 177). Coating seeds with cells of A. chroococcum and S.
atroolivaceus or soaking in bacterial crude preparations or extracted metabolites and indole-
3-acetic acid (IAA) or gibberellic acid (GA3) significantly reduced disease symptoms and
counts of X. c. pv. malvacearum in infected leaves. Symptom-free leaves and the lowest
