This paper presents the characteristics of biological active substances derived from tea,
coffee and cocoa. These popular plant materials contain in their composition substances
which have antioxidant properties (eg polyphenols), substances which belong to the group
of purine alkaloids (eg caffeine), mineral substances and vitamins. These chemical
compounds can be used in cosmetic products to help in the proper functioning of the skin.
