In this paper we report on the initial characterisation and calibration of a multistatic radar
system, which has been designed using'commercial off the shelf components'. This initial
test strategy will provide a useful gauge of how effectively the system can detect certain
simple targets and thus pave the way for further work looking at developing multistatic radar
