University of Southern Queensland (USQ) hypersonic wind tunnel (TUSQ) is capable of producing flows of gas for test durations in excess of 100 ms [1]. These long flow durations facilitate fundamental investigation of: hypersonic mixing, aerodynamics, boundary layers and heat transfer, and the analysis of applications including flight vehicles and related geometries [2]. The free-stream flow conditions produced by wind tunnels have a significant effect on experimental results [3] and noise levels (free stream pressure disturbances) in wind tunnels are typically one to two orders of magnitude greater than flight [4]. The free stream pressure disturbances are a result of the nozzle wall’s turbulent boundary layer, which radiates broadband acoustic noise into the free stream.
