Diarrhoea is one of the common digestive disorder in bovine of all age groups causing heavy economic losses to dairy industry due to mortality in neonates and losses in terms of production and reproduction in adult dairy animals. Diarrhoea requires immediate attention of Veterinarians failing which there may be fluid and electrolyte imbalance leading to irrepairable damage to vital organs on account of dehydration and acid-base imbalance and in severe cases may lead to death of animal (Nadig et al., 2000). Diarrhoea has been extensively studied in calves, however the research work on diarrhoea in adult bovine is scarce. The oral antibiotics such as sulpha, sulpha-trimethoprim, tetracycline, furazolidone and metronidazole are being used with variable results by Veterinarians. Therefore in this study an attempt has been made to evaluate efficacy of Ciprofloxacin-Tinidazole combination with or without Gutlyte, polyherbal astringent in bacterial diarrhoea in young as well as adult bovine.
