Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) is an key component of photovoltaic system so as to maximise the energy under given specified condition. Perturb and observe (P&O) and incremental conductance(IC) are two popular conventional control algorithm because of the simplicity in design. In this work, comparisons between these two conventional algorithms are carried out. These algorithms are implemented in MATLAB/Simulink environment considering the specifications of Solarex MSX-64 model. Double diode model of the solar cell is considered for the experimentation. The results of simulation are compared and discussed in detail.
