We compare, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, the behavior of a grazing
incidence Nd: YVO 4 laser when pumped at 808 nm and when directly pumped at 880 nm.
We report a more linear behavior of the output power as a function of input power under
direct pumping, due to a decrease in thermal effects.
