This study examines and compares three international mental health self-help
organizations: Recovery, Inc., Emotions Anonymous, and GROW International. The authors
investigated membership characteristics, ideologies, meeting procedures, and the
organizational characteristics of degree of centralization and formalization, roles of

Abstract
