Abstract
In an experiment conducted tin Rize province, Turkey, during 2002-03, kiwifruit (cv. Hayward) seedlings were propagated by chip and T budding. Budding was conducted on 15 April, 1 May, 15 May, 1 June, 1 August, 15 August, 1 September or 15 September. Bud take rate, bud sprouting rate, graft shoot diameter, and graft shoot length were evaluated after grafting. All the budding methods and budding dates were suitable for kiwifruit propagation. However, the highest mean percent of bud take and sprouting rate were obtained with chip budding conducted on 1 May, 15 May, 1 September and 15 September. The highest mean shoot diameter and shoot length were obtained with chip budding conducted on 15 August, 1 September and 15 September.
