Abstract
Phenotypic and genotypic correlations and path coefficient analysis, involving 15 diverse genotypes of cucumber, were carried out in Kullu Valley, Himachal Pradesh, India, during 2003. Data were recorded for total number of fruits per plot, fruit length, fruit girth, days to first male flower, days to first female flower, fruit index, number of fruits per hill and fruit yield. Genotypic correlations were found higher than the phenotypic correlations for most of the characters. Number of fruits per hill expressed high positive correlations with yield and total number of fruits per plot. Path coefficient analysis revealed that number of fruits per hill and per plot, followed by fruit girth, exhibited the maximum direct effect on fruit yield.
