Dehydrogenation kinetics of pure and nickel-doped magnesium hydride investigated by in situ time-resolved powder X-ray diffraction

TR Jensen, A Andreasen, T Vegge… - International Journal of …, 2006 - Elsevier
The dehydrogenation kinetics of pure and nickel (Ni)-doped (2w/w%) magnesium hydride
(MgH2) have been investigated by in situ time-resolved powder X-ray diffraction (PXD).
Deactivated samples, ie air exposed, are investigated in order to focus on the effect of
magnesium oxide (MgO) surface layers, which might be unavoidable for magnesium (Mg)-
based storage media for mobile applications. A curved position-sensitive detector covering
120∘ in 2θ and a rotating anode X-ray source provide a time resolution of 45s and up to 90 …

Dehydrogenation kinetics for pure and nickel-doped magnesium hydride investigated by in-situ, time-resolved powder diffraction (poster)

TR Jensen, A Andreasen, T Vegge… - … Symposium on Metal …, 2004 - orbit.dtu.dk
The dehydrogenation kinetics of pure and nickel-doped magnesium hydride was
investigated by in-situ, time-resolved X-ray powder diffraction. A special reaction cell
allowed the study of gas/solid reactions and analysis of the exhaust gas by
massspectroscopy. X-ray data (0< 2è< 120) was collected under isothermal conditions with
a time resolution of 45 s. Three phases were identified, Mg, MgH2 and MgO, and the phase
fractions were extracted for each phase. Dehydrogenation curves wereconstructed and …
