To help understand the diversity of Botryosphaeria species found on horticultural crops in
Victoria and New South Wales, 30 isolates were identified using rDNA ITS sequences and
elongation factor 1 α (EF-1 α) gene sequences. Cultures had been isolated over the last 25
years and originated from 14 plant species, and about half were from grapevines, stone fruit
and pome fruit. The most commonly encountered species were B. australis (8 times), B.

Abstract

Cultures had been isolated over the last 25 years and originated from 14 plant species, and about half were from grapevines, stone fruit and pome fruit. The most commonly encountered species were B. australis (8 times), B. obtusa (7 times), B. parva (7 times) and B. dothidea (5 times). Botryosphaeria ribis was identified only once and B. lutea twice.
