During the last two decades, extensive road-construction works in Northern France have
allowed the discovery of numerous Middle Palaeolithic sites. Geological and
multidisciplinary studies performed on these localities allowed the establishment of a
precise chronostratigraphical and biostratigraphical framework of regional significance,
