Effect of sertraline in indomethacin-induced gastric mucosal damage

The antiulcerative effect of sertraline was investigated using an indomethacin-induced ulcer
model in rats. After the macroscopic analyses, malondialdehyde and glutathione amounts
and superoxide dismutase, glutathione-S-transferase and glutathione peroxidase enzyme
activities were determined in stomach tissues. It is presumed that the sertraline has positive
effect in the treatment of gastric mucosal damages and this effect may be related to the
decrease of oxidative stress and activation of antioxidant mechanisms by sertraline. For …
