[PDF][PDF] Enhanced xanthotoxin content in regenerating cultures of Ammi majus and micropropagation

Since in Ammi majus the seed set and germination is poor attempts were made to propagate
the plants through tissue cultures and monitor the yield of xanthotoxin (furanocoumarin) in
the resultant callus and plantlets. The callus from cotyledonary leaves obtained on MS
medium supplemented with a-indoleacetic acid (lAA)+ kinetin (KN)+ casein hydrolysate
(CH), differentiated shoots in 100% cultures when adenine was added to the above medium.
Plantlets resulted on MSmedium with indolebutyric acid (lBA) and glutamine. The yield …

Enhanced xanthotoxin content in regenerating cultures of Ammi majus and micropropagation.

MP Madhumati Purohit, DP Deepshikha Pande… - 1995 - cabidigitallibrary.org
Callus of cotyledonary leaves of A. majus leaves was grown on MS medium supplemented
with α-indoleacetic acid+ kinetin+ casein hydrolysate. Addition of adenine to the medium
induced shoot formation. Plantlets were produced on MS medium supplemented with
indolebutyric acid and glutamine. These contained higher xanthotoxin contents than
previously reported from this plant.
