Materials and Methods. Samples of 12 mm thick virgin (unirradiated) GUR 1020 were
inserted into a custom-built die and heated to 110 C (ie, below the peak melting temperature
of UHMWPE). The samples were then drawn through a 40 mm by 6 mm rectangular die slot
using a screw-driven electromechanical loading frame, resulting in a draw ratio of 2. Cores
were taken through the thickness and transverse to the thickness of the slot-drawn material
