The exciton longitudinal-transverse splitting, ω LT, has been investigated both theoretically
and experimentally in periodic GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures. It has been shown that the 2D-
3D transition manifests itself in the ω LT dependence on the SL period,(L z+ L b), more
dramatically than in the exciton binding energy dependence on the period.
