Abstract
This paper presents new experimental and modeling results on the temporal evolution of atomic oxygen in nanosecond repetitively pulsed O 2/Ar/H 2 plasmas, measured using the two-photon absorption laser-induced fluorescence technique. The experimental measurements and modeling predictions focus on the effect of injected singlet delta oxygen, O 2 (a 1 Δ g), which was generated in a radio-frequency discharge. While no effect by singlet delta oxygen was unambiguously observed in the experimental data, modeling predictions indicate that this is due to rapid non-reactive quenching by HO 2 radicals and H atoms.
