Within our investigations on cross-layer interactions in distributed passive Radio Frequency
Identification (RFID) systems, in this paper we present a novel contribution on the study of
the performance of such systems. Specifically, we analyze the impact of the underlying
propagation environment and discuss a diversity technique based on the different
