Integrated optical polarizer operating at λ~ 1550 nm has been fabricated on X-cut lithium
niobate substrate using annealed proton exchange waveguide. The polarizer guides
extraordinarily polarized light (TE-pass) and an extinction ratio of> 35 dB has been observed
over ordinarily polarized light (TM-blocked). The insertion loss of the polarizer is measured
to be~ 9 dB and can be reduced further by optimizing the process parameters.
