Abstract
In field trials in 1991-93 at Hisar, Haryana, Brassica juncea, rape and B. carinata were irrigated at 50% flowering or 50% flowering + 25% siliqua development stage or at irrigation water:cumulative pan evaporation ratios of 0.25 or 0.4. Crops were given 75, 100 or 125% of the recommended N and P rates of 80 kg N + 30 kg P2O5/ha. Irrigation levels did not influence fatty acids composition in seeds in either of the years. Increasing levels of fertilizers significantly affected the fatty acids composition. Fatty acid content varied between species.
