The unsteady flow of a viscous incompressible gas embedded with small spherical particles
in a rectangular channel is studied. The flow is produced under the influence of an arbitrary
time varying pressure gradient. The exact velocities of the gas and particles are obtained by
operational methods. The change in velocity profiles of the gas and particles with time for a
constant pressure gradient, have been drawn graphically. It is found that the velocities of the
gas and particles are maximum in the central plane of the channel.
