Abstract
FLUMP is a project based at the Lancaster University Computing Department designed to investigate and demonstrate the usefulness and adaptability of Ubiquitous Computing systems. The FLUMP project provides a heterogeneous, ubiquitous, multimedia information system, enabling useful information (such as e-mail and diary information) to" follow" people around the building via a distributed set of wall mounted monitors. These monitors make use of extended WWW technology to manage this information, and support the migration of information between monitors by utilising Active Badge technology. This short paper describes the aims, functionality, architecture, and results gained from FLUMP, and concludes with the proposed directions for the future of the FLUMP project.
