Power line communication (PLC) has significant benefits. By exploiting the existing and ubiquitous power line infrastructure, PLC signals can cover a larger area and provide high-speed data service without the installation of new infrastructure, especially in remote rural areas where Ethernet is not available. However, the state-of-the-art PLC can support at most MIMO, which cannot achieve ubiquitous and scalable connectivity for increasing traffic on the power line. In this paper, we exploit the spatiality of the power line infrastructure to achieve MIMO communication. We verify the independence of powerline channels in power line infrastructure and the scalability of doing MIMO technology to improve the performance of power line communication. Our experimental results show that our architecture is scalable and boosts the data rate on the power line.
