India has been the fertile ground for the development of many sports since ages. Since the turn of the millennium, India’s presence as a global sporting phenomenon cannot be doubted, especially with India’s performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. With the glories that sports have brought in India, it becomes the need of the hour to develop sports law in India.

One of the benefits of having a robust sports law framework would be that it would lead to the development of sports that have a good potential for growth but are vying for attention, like rugby. The sport has given me the best years of life and has given me the opportunity to represent my nation at international fora. I have been incredibly proud and grateful to be the CEO of Rugby India of the national rugby team. The growth of rugby in India has been slow but organic, and a developed sporting framework would definitely help in expanding the growth of the beautiful sport in our beautiful country.
